Shanti Chakravorty Award in Indian Classical Music

Overview

The Shanti Chakravorty Award in Indian Classical Music will be presented in recognition of artistic and scholarly achievement in Indian classical music. This award will be granted annually to an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing the study of Indian classical music at York University. Preference will be given to a student focusing on vocal Indian classical music performance. Recipients must have a GPA of 7.00 (B+). Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons, Ontario residents*, and demonstrate financial need.

This award was established by the family of Shanti Chakravorty to recognize her commitment as a performing artist and teacher of Indian classical music.
