Bootcamps are an opportunity for faculty members to travel and gain firsthand experience with international programs through a planned and structured short-term program. Faculty members are guided to visit selected global partners and communities and are introduced to opportunities on which to build relationships for greater engagement in experiential and international learning.
Faculty members can:
- Experientially learn about the community & available resources
- Become immersed in the culture and context
- Connect on health issues important to local communities
- Co-create, design and propose relevant experiential courses for York students
Following a bootcamp, faculty members apply the experience towards developing programs that benefit student learning, opportunities and/or engagements such as through a proposal for course adaptation or new course design, globally networked learning plan or identifiable joint projects with international partners. Faculty members also present the experience back to their respective School or Department.
Bootcamps are designed to support strategic faculty global engagement and are funded as part of the international program of the Faculty of Health.
