Accessibility Measures

VCP takes great pride in providing a more accessible and inclusive experience for patrons.

We incorporate industry standard Relaxed Performance Measures, which have historically been designed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone who would benefit from a less traditional theatre atmosphere, including those with autism, sensory or communication disorder, ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, and parents with small children.

We aim to offer the following accessible measures in all of our performances:

  • Closed Captions are broadcast to a screen above the stage.
  • Visual Stories/Guides are available in advance help support your journey to the theatre and your understanding of the show.
  • Patrons are welcome to come and go from the theatre during the performance. Walkways are lit to guide patrons out of the theatre.
  • The lobby outside the theatre is available as a Quiet Space and patrons are welcome to use it before, during, or after the performance.
  • Audio levels are pre-set at a reduced level.
  • We use reduced intensity with lighting and do not have any sudden flashes, strobing effects, or blinding lights.
  • Accessible washrooms are available on all floors of Vanier College.
  • Food and drinks are permitted, but patrons are asked to avoid hot food, strong odours, and anything with nuts due to allergies.
  • Performance running time and intermission information will be made available when purchasing a ticket.
  • If a performance includes potentially triggering/mature/difficult content, this information will be provided in advance.
