Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies Small Grants

The Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies runs a biannual internal competition for funds to support the research activities of its emerging scholars, either Faculty Associates employed at York University for less than four years and Research Associates.

Once an academic year, each emerging scholar can apply to the small grants program with a request for funds to a maximum of $750 for Faculty Associates and $200 for Research Associates. Faculty Associate funding can be used for events, research assistance or assistance with publications. Research Associate funding can be used for fees for conferences, workshops, seminars, lectures, and non-presenting conferences; for supplementary training and courses; or for software subscriptions not covered by the university or the libraries. Full criteria details on application form.

The Robarts Centre small grants have been adjudicated for 2023-24.

2024-25 deadlines for applying to the program for activities or expenses incurred held between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025:

  • Fall deadline: 4 October 2024
  • Winter deadline: 7 March 2025

There might be other ways in which the Robarts Centre can support the research endeavours of Faculty Associates and Research Associates. Please emailĀ robarts@yorku.ca, if you have any questions.
