Appendix A: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. The Bachelor of Education (BEd) is an intensive full-time, professional degree program. BEd students should expect to participate in classes and school practicum placements from Monday to Friday; classes are scheduled between 8:30 am and can run until 5:30 pm and school placements follow the schedule of each school. Additionally, school practicum placements are scheduled for full days, both as individual days and in some full-time teaching blocks.
    • In addition to classes and school practicum placements, BEd students are expected to complete course readings, complete assignments, and to increasingly engage in the work of teachers (e.g., lesson planning, unit planning, assessing and evaluating students’ work, participate in school-based meetings and activities). The program is an extremely intensive experience, and it requires commitment, organizational skills, and professionalism.
  2. BEd students are also expected to attend and participate in orientations and other professional sessions that are offered as part of the degree program.
  3. BEd students are expected to act as professionals, and to attend all classes and school practicum placements in the format that they are scheduled (e.g., in-person) and to both arrive on time and stay for the duration.
