Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGSM)

Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGSM)

The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGSM) program provide financial support to high calibre scholars who are engaged in eligible Masters or, in some cases, doctoral programs in Canada. This support allows these scholars to fully concentrate on their studies in their chosen fields. The CGS M Program supports 3,000 students annually in all disciplines and is administered jointly by Canada’s three federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). The selection process and post-award administration are carried out at the university level, under the guidance of the three agencies. Students submit their application to the university at which they propose to hold their award via the Research Portal.

Value and Duration

  • $17,500 for one year

  • December 1

How to Apply

To submit an application, please follow the online application instructions provided by CGS-Master's program.

In addition, students wishing to be considered for an Ontario Graduate Scholarship through York University are required to submit the 2023 - 2024 Tri-Council and Ontario Graduate Scholarship Cover Sheet by December 1.

Transcripts with your complete academic record (undergraduate and graduate studies, completed and ongoing) are required. Accordingly, applicants are responsible for collecting, uploading, and confirming legibility of previous and current (including Fall 2022 even if no grades are available) transcripts and upload them directly on to the application portal.

Due to the pandemic, the CGS-M will continue to accept unofficial transcripts if official transcripts cannot be obtained. To access your York University unofficial transcript, please visit the Order Transcripts Online page and request for your unofficial transcript to be emailed to you.
