NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships and CGS Doctoral Awards (PGSD/CGSD)

Overview

The NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarships - Doctoral Awards (CGSD) and NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS) provide financial support to high calibre scholars who are engaged in doctoral programs in the natural sciences or engineering. The CGSD will be offered to the top–ranked applicants at the doctoral level and the next tier of meritorious applicants will be offered an NSERC PGS. This support allows these scholars to fully concentrate on their studies and seek out the best research mentors in their chosen fields.

Value and Duration

  • PGS D - $21,000 per year for 3 years
  • CGS D - $35,000 per year for 3 years

NSERC APPLICATION SUBMISSION

To submit an application, please follow the online application instructions provided by NSERC.

In addition, students submitting an NSERC doctoral application through York University are required to submit the 2024-2025 Tri-Council & Ontario Graduate Scholarship Cover Sheet by October 4, 2023.

Transcripts

Official transcripts with your complete academic record (undergraduate and graduate studies, completed and ongoing) are required. Accordingly, applicants are responsible for collecting, uploading, and confirming legibility of previous and current (including Fall 2023 even if no grades are available) official transcripts and upload them directly onto the application portal.

To access your York University official transcript, please visit the Order Transcripts Online page and request for your official transcript to be emailed to you. Please note that grade reports will not be accepted.
