Position Title: Communications Intern
Working Site’s Location: Toronto, On

Job Description:

Students will have a chance to learn alongside MPP Mary-Margaret McMahon, who represents the riding of Beaches-East York at Queen's Park. MPP McMahon is also the Critic for The Environment, Conservation, and Parks, Seniors and Accessibility, and Tourism, Culture, and Sport. The student will be an integral member of a small team and will assist with public relations, communications and design needs. Note: Time will be split between working in-person at Queen's Park and in-person at our Community Hub on the Danforth (Coxwell Station).

Responsibilities:

  • Co-write and edit content that connects with our core audience.
  • Support the development of inspiring and engaging stories, videos, photos, blog, etc.
  • Co-write letters addressed to Ministers, Stakeholders, etc.
  • Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization.
  • Support outreach by co-organizing meetings, townhalls.
  • Research and identify opportunities for policy interest areas and increasing constituent and community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • A strong writer who can break down complex information and present to the general public.
  • Strong editing skills.
  • Knowledge of news media and social media platforms.
  • Excited team player who can work independently or with others!

Additional Assets:

  • Graphic design skills (Canva).
  • Familiar with MailChimp.
  • Knowledge of word programs (excel).
  • Background knowledge of Ontario and Canadian politics.
