ODLAN is a registered non-profit organization that aims to remove digital literacy and access barriers for 2SLGBTQ+ community members. We are a community-based, volunteer-led organization that was founded by 2SLGBTQ+ graduate students, community leaders, and allies who have first hand experience working with 2SLGBTQ+ community members with limited access to the knowledge and hardware needed to participate in online spaces. Our vision is to empower service providers with the resources, tools, and knowledge to build digital strategies that use an intergenerational approach to remove access barriers to digital programs and related services.

Job Description:

This position will allow students to build a campaign focused on digital inclusion, safety, and access. The communications & campaign coordinator will be responsible for developing a comprehensive campaign strategy and will collaborate with the ODLAN media team to implement the campaign strategy. This project will draw on existing ODLAN resources to distribute knowledge on ODLAN's key areas of focus.

As a member of the outreach team, the communications & campaign coordinator will report to the media officer. They are responsible for supporting the team and carrying out assigned duties, including drafting, editing, and posting content to social media, monitoring social media comments and messages, and researching relevant content to post to social media.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage ODLAN social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Develop a social media campaign on digital inclusion, safety, and access.
  • Review and provide suggestions to improve ODLAN's media strategy.
  • Write and distribute press releases and community announcements.
  • Schedule posts to social media in a timely fashion.
  • Monitor activity on social media pages.
  • Respond to comments and messages on ODLAN’s social media pages/posts.
  • Monitor and remove offensive comments.
  • Attend team meetings on Zoom.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with and comfort using social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin).
  • Experience in a public relations or digital marketing role is an asset.
  • Strong copy editing skills.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Team player with a commitment to ODLAN’s mission and strategic directions.

Additional Assets:

Experience preparing briefing notes, reports, memoranda, presentations, or social media content.

An understanding of intersectionality and Anti-Racists and Anti-Oppression practices. May have experience working in, or with, a not-for-profit, registered charity, 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and/or social justice organization/environment.

This placement will be fully-remote. Must be able to work well remotely.
