Human Rights and Humanitarian Action

This course explores the foundations, origins and contemporary challenges in the interplay between human rights and humanitarian action. It analyses classical and contemporary approaches towards understanding the relationship between human rights and humanitarian action, including origins of humanitarianism, institutional developments and contemporary critiques. It examines and evaluates underlying principles, concepts, practices and contemporary method of protection. Prerequisites: 24 credits, including AP/HREQ 1010 6.00 (formerly AP/HREQ 2010 6.00)
