Peer Tutoring is a Bethune College service. The College provides a social and academic hub for students in the Faculty of Science and Lassonde School of Engineering.

Yes!

Peer Tutoring drop-in hours are hosted in Bethune College (rooms 204. 205, 224) and over Zoom. Please check the schedule carefully for the location of your session.

Peer Tutors are trained, volunteer, upper year York students who are familiar with the course content. There are multiple tutors for each course and you may see a different person at each session.

Peer tutors can NOT help you with assignments/homework that you will be graded on.

Peer tutors CAN help explain concepts related to the topic, but will not provide you with direct answers.

Visiting a peer tutor can help you to better grasp course material by strengthening fundamental subject-concepts, provide you with feedback, and/or help you to look at a problem in a new way.

  • Identify a single concept or question to focus on to make best use of the time you have with the tutor.
  • Bring study materials with you that are relevant to your selected concept/question (e.g. study notes, textbook, etc.)
  • Come ready to participate - the peer tutor will work with you collaboratively.

This is a drop-in service and you do not need to book tutoring sessions beforehand.
