The Canada Black Music Archive, a division of Word Media Group Inc., is a digital archive that documents the contribution of African Canadian musicians such as pianist/composer Nathaniel Dett in the 1800s to Oscar Peterson; Opera/concert singer Portia White, to rapper/actor Maestro, R&B Singer Debra Cox, gospel choir, Highlife performer, Pat Thomas; Reggae singer, Leroy Sibbles; Montreal Jubilation Choir; rapper Drake and R&B/Pop singer The Weeknd of current times.

Job Description:

You will research and write biographical material for the CBMA as well as edit and proofread content for consistency. You will work with a diverse team and report directly to our Executive Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and produce biographical content for the CBMA website and social media channels.
  • Research and write engaging blog posts and marketing materials.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare CBMA public relations materials.

Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent grammar.
  • Ability to work independently.
