This course, which is designed for beginners or near-beginners, focuses on the development of basic oral and written skills in French and offers an introduction to French culture. This course will not count towards the degree requirements for students majoring or minoring in French Studies. Note: Students may only register in AP/FR 0120 6.00 through a language placement test. Note: Course code and title were AP/FR 1020 Introductory French prior to Summer 2021.
AP/FR 0120 6.0 (formerly known as AP/FR 1020 6.0) is designed for students who have not studied French or who have very limited proficiency in French. In this course, students acquire basic vocabulary and grammatical structures through: Written exercises, writing simple sentences, and very short compositions; Dialogues, role-playing, and conversations; Auditory discrimination exercises and oral comprehension; The reading of short texts or dialogues on a cultural theme.
Prerequisites: By placement test or permission
Course credit exclusions: GL/FSL 1001 3.00, GL/FRAN 1820 3.00.
