Althea Kotsopoulos

4th year Public Administration, specializing in Law, Justice & Public Policy

My name is Althea Kotsopoulos, and I am entering my fourth year majoring in Public Administration, specializing in Law, Justice & Public Policy. Throughout the latter parts of my childhood and my time in high school, I would often tell people that I wanted to pursue a career in law. I made active decisions in many aspects of my life to support that goal, and choosing to complete my undergraduate studies with a degree in Public Administration has been one of the most pivotal ones.

The courses offered in this program have not only broadened my understanding of law and policy, but have introduced me to numerous aspects of government, including potential career paths. After three years of work in the classroom, I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to participate in AP/PPAS 4995 6.0 Practicum in Public Administration, during my fourth year. I am so excited for the new opportunities, experiences, and connections this practicum placement will bring.

Being a part of the SPPA community has not only offered several academic benefits (including the foundation for a legal career), but has provided me with one of the most rewarding experiences yet - serving as the Public Policy & Administration Student Association (PPASA) President. Having the opportunity to contribute to the community, gain friendships, and broaden my learning outside of the classroom has served as an incredible achievement, and is something I will carry with me far into the future.

I often reflect on the person I was coming out of high school and entering university. My thoughts are always directed back to this program and how impactful it has been in shaping who I am, both personally and professionally. I am forever grateful for my choice to apply to the BPA program, and I am thrilled to begin this next year as part of such a wonderful family!
