3rd year Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) Honours

I would like to introduce myself. I am Kashish. I am a third-year Bachelor of Public Administration Honors student.

In high school, I wanted to assume a career in law and politics. However, I had limited knowledge of associable career options, in addition to how this would impact my program selection for post-secondary education. The School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA) acquainted me with a limitless number of career paths – with which I saw the overlap between law and politics in public and private sectors. A good grasp of public and private sectors gave me perspective and appreciation for how complex the government is.

I took some interesting courses in my first year - AP/PPAS Introduction to Public Administration: Bureaucracy and Western Liberal Capitalist Democracy and AP/PPAS Professional Skills and Communications – that broadened my understanding of the connections within the public sector in Canada. I also applied what I had learned in class to build social and professional connections. My second-year courses included AP/PPAS Public Administration, AP/PPAS Public Law I and AP/PPAS Statistics for Social Sciences. I am currently studying the AP/PPAS Public Sector Budget Process, AP/PPAS The Canadian Government, AP/PPAS Canada’s Labor Market – to name a few. These courses require analytical thinking, public speaking development, and knowledge in public administration and law. The course readings provide tools for success in the public service later on.

Undoubtedly, I would have to give credit to the Public Policy Administration Student Association (PPASA) for broadening my network of connections among students and within the provincial and federal government in Canada. PPASA events gave us the opportunity to meet individuals with governance experience. I started out as PPASA Junior Ambassador in 2020-2021, my first year of studies. I take pride in being the Director of Recruitment for the PPASA (for the last two years). I excitedly look forward to serving the PPASA community, along with the rest of the executive team members.
