The full events calendar can also be found on the Markham Student Council IG Account.

Events held at Orientation Week (August/September) and Frost Week (January) will vary from year to year but generally include games, fairs, sporting events, athletic showdowns, and other social events that allow students the opportunity to meet and make new friends. There are also opportunities to learn about colleges and faculties and the various resources available to support students.

Markham Campus will be hosting our own Orientation events with more details coming soon here.

All Markham Campus Orientation events will be held in-person. However, our summer series, “Discover Markham Campus,” offers in-person, hybrid and virtual engagements.

Yes! All Markham Campus Orientation & Transition Programs are free. However, if you are interested in attending Social Orientation, there may be an associated cost. The cost of attending will be shared on the registration page when it becomes available. All orientation and transition programs and events require you to register.

If you are a Markham Campus Student, you are encouraged to attend the orientation events at the Markham Campus.

If you are an international student, a self-identified indigenous student  or live in one of our residences (Keele, Markham or Glendon) there is programming specific for you that you are encouraged to attend. While none of these events are mandatory, we encourage you to attend because it’s an opportunity to connect with students in your community and explore services/resources that are more specific for you.

Our goal is to make sure you have all the information you need, are able to navigate our campus and have an opportunity to meet your future classmates before the first day of class.

Details of the locations for each event will be conveyed to you upon registration. If not then, the Markham Orientation team will send details via email closer to the start of the event(s). This email will include relevant times, locations, and details necessary for attending the event.

It is recommended you bring a water bottle, snacks, clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather conditions and the activities you plan to participate in.

If you're a Markham Campus student, we encourage you to attend orientation events happening at Markham. In addition, if you are an international student, a self-identified Indigenous student, or living in residence (at Keele, Markham, or Glendon), there are specialized programs designed just for you. While attendance is not mandatory, these events are a great opportunity to meet other students in your community and learn about services and resources tailored to your needs. Our goal is to make sure you feel informed, confident navigating campus, and connected with your classmates before classes begin.

Alcohol is prohibited at all York University orientation events and transition programs.
