Daniel Wigfield

Dr. Daniel Wigfield is an assistant professor of sport management at York University’s Markham Campus. Dr. Wigfield’s research focuses on organizational theory as it is related to the management of sport organizations and systems. To date his research focus has allowed him to lead projects with a number of Canada’s leading sport organizations (e.g., Canada Basketball, Canadian Paralympic Committee, Tennis Canada) that have enhanced their understanding of stakeholder experiences and improved organizational capacity for data-driven decision making in a several areas including: strategy development; innovation; approaches to equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI); digital marketing; and program design. Additionally, his work has been published in a variety of sport management and industry adjacent journals including Event Management; Managing Sport and Leisure Sports; Sport, Business, Management: An International Journal; and Sports Innovation Journal. Dr. Wigfield was educated at Brock University (BSM, MA) and University of Waterloo (PhD). He will teach introduction to sport management and sport in society courses in the Bachelor of Sport Management Program.
