Peer Tutor Recruitment

Applications for the FW2026-27 year are open from June 19th-July 3rd!

Are you passionate about teaching and sharing your knowledge and effective studying strategies with others? Are you looking for a way to help your student community all while expanding your own experiences? Have you completed any first- or second-year courses with a letter grade of [A] or higher?

Consider applying to join the Peer Tutoring Program!

Our Goals:

  • Promoting Independence: We do not want students to be reliant on this program; we aspire to foster an environment that promotes independence in the long run- helping students develop effective studying techniques and ease their stress in difficult times.
  • One-on-one Tutoring: We recognize that learning is never one-size-fits-all, as every student approaches studying in a different way. While lectures and PASS are great for delivering lessons to a wide audience, some students may respond better to an approach that is tailored to their individual academic needs. Peer Tutoring offers one-on-one tutoring where the tutee sits down individually with a peer tutor, students receive a highly personalized approach to learning- tailored entirely to what works best for them.
  • Free Academic Support: We wholeheartedly believe and passionately advocate for student success. All our students should be able to strive for academic success without economic hindrance. Therefore, to make this ideal a reality, our tutoring services are completely free!
  • Accessibility: We believe that academic support should be highly approachable and barrier-free. For many students, seeking guidance from faculty or staff members can feel daunting. Peer tutoring bridges this gap by offering a more accessible alternative; students find it easier to approach and relate to their peers, therefore our ultimate goal is to leverage this natural peer connection to ensure our services remain welcoming, effective, and fully available to every student who needs support.
  • Academic Excellence: We want to make sure that students receive the best help that they can get. All Peer Tutors are selected through a rigorous interview process and possess a firm grasp on the course content.

How Can Apply?

We are currently looking for undergraduate students majoring in Science or Engineering. Applications are open to all second-year and above students who have earned a letter grade of [A] or higher in any 1000- or 2000-level science or engineering course.

Bethune College welcomes applications from all students, including, but not limited to, women, persons with disabilities, members of racialized groups, Indigenous Peoples and persons of any gender identity and sexual orientation.
