Who should attend Academic Orientation Day?
All new students are expected to attend if at all possible. Academic Orientation Day is for students only. Parents and loved ones are welcome to attend Parents’ Orientation (see below).
Is there anything else I need to do for my academic orientation?
Yes! Check your email. You will receive an invitation (sometime between August 3 and August 9) to join our Orientation eClass site which is where academic orientation starts and where you’ll find more details about Academic Orientation Day on August 28 and Orientation Week Activities.
Where do I go on August 28?
The starting point will vary depending on your major. You will receive an email from your peer mentor sometime before August 28, telling you which room to go to on Academic Orientation Day. We will also post room assignments on the Orientation eClass site and here. Science’s “home base” on August 28 will be the lobby of the Lassonde Building, so if you aren’t sure, start there
What should I bring on August 28?
- Wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes
- Bring a refillable water bottle
- Bring snacks and a light lunch
What about my parents/loved ones?
Only students attend academic orientation on August 28th. Orientation for parents and loved ones will be held online on Wednesday August 14, 7-8pm. This session is not mandatory but rather for parents who want to learn more about how to support their children as they transition to university. Register for Parents’ Orientation here.
Are you a new student in Lassonde School of Engineering? Bethune College is also affiliated with Lassonde and you are also a member of Bethune College. Lassonde academic orientation will be on Thursday, August 29. If you are a Lassonde student (Engineering and Computer Science), please visit here for more information about your academic orientation.
