Student organizations should be recognized by Student Community & Leadership Development (SCLD), York Federation of Students (YFS), LA&PS Colleges (with permission) or another recognized York University governing body.
How it Works
Before the event, the collaboration partner will meet with Founders College to discuss the event and create social media content to promote the session. Founders College will book the room, purchase snacks and refreshments, bring supplies and will promote the event.
During the event, Founders College will help with event set-up and post clean-up, oversee registration, snacks/supplies set-up and oversee logistical details. The partner delivers a presentation and facilitates group discussion. Founders College will thank everyone for attending.
After the event, partners can exchange images and references.

Tea Time Talks is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive environment for meaningful conversations in the York community. Our partner expectations and professional standards are listed below. Partners are expected to:
Before the Event
- Attend planning meetings
- Designate one primary contact
- Confirm speakers or facilitators
- Create and review promotional materials
- Provide presentation materials in advance of the session (if applicable).
- Communicate accessibility or logistical needs
During the Event
- Facilitate respectful conversations
- Encourage participation
- Represent their community authentically
- Maintain an educational, dialogue-based environment
- Uphold York University’s values of Decolonizing, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (DEDI)
After the event
- Share references, if applicable

Who can submit a collaboration request?
Recognized York University student organizations or campus partners.
What topics are appropriate?
Tea Time Talks welcomes topics including, but not limited to, lived experiences, culture, heritage, identity, community, health and well-being, and awareness months.
Can we choose the format?
Absolutely. Past sessions have included: facilitated dialogue, panel discussions, storytelling, cultural presentations, workshops and podcasts.
How many presenters should we bring?
Generally, 2-5 representatives works best.
Are refreshments provided?
Yes. Tea and light refreshments are coordinated by LA&PS Colleges.
Can multiple organizations collaborate?
Absolutely. Several Tea Time Talks have involved multiple campus partners to provide different perspectives.
