2026 Summer Welcome Orientation
Join us on May 12 for the LA&PS Summer Orientation, an afternoon designed to help incoming LA&PS first‑year students feel confident, connected, and ready to begin their university journey. This event brings together key student services, academic supports, and peer connections—all in one place, with free pizza and ice cream included.

What to Expect
2:30 – 3:00 p.m. | Welcome & Opening Session
You’ll be welcomed into the LA&PS community with an opening session created specifically for incoming first‑year students. This session will introduce LA&PS expectations, supports, and opportunities, while framing what your First-Year Experience will look like through services, engagement, and community.
3:00 – 4:30 p.m. | Student Services & Resources Fair with Lunch
After the opening session, explore a student services and resources fair where you can connect directly with campus and faculty supports, ask questions, and gather helpful information for your first year. Enjoy lunch, including pizza, ice cream, and interactive activities like DIY button making, as you move through the space at your own pace.

Can I bring friends or family with me to LA&PS Orientation?
LA&PS Orientation events are designed just for our incoming first-year students. It is a great opportunity to meet the people you'll be studying with during the next four years, meet professors, and start building your community. We have staff, student volunteers and faculty available to support you throughout the event.
If you require in-person support and/or service animals for accessibility reasons, they are more than welcome to join you.
Which Orientation Events can I register for?
All students in programs within the Faculty of LA&PS are strongly encouraged to attend the official LA&PS Orientation. If your program is not part of the Faculty of LA&PS, find your faculty’s academic orientation event.
In addition to this event, you should also check out events hosted by the college that your program is affiliated. This offers you another opportunity to meet and make friends with other students from your program at orientation events organized by your student college council. That said, you are not restricted from participating in orientation week of other colleges.
How will I find orientation events and navigate campus during orientation week?
Orientation events are designed with new students in mind! Volunteers, usually consisting of upper-year students, as well as university staff are on hand to around campus to help you find your way and enjoy these events. Leave your worries at home! We’ve got you covered.

Who organizes orientation?
Within the Faculty of LA&PS there are two organizers of orientation events: The Faculty operates academic orientation, and the student councils run social orientation.
Student Councils organize events across orientation week for students in programs affiliated with their college. These events are by students for students with emphasis on making friends within a small community and getting to know campus. Find your college.
Faculty of LA&PS organizes a FREE orientation events where you will:
- connect with professors and peers in your program;
- explore degree enhancements available in LA&PS such as certificates, program pairings, co-op and study abroad;
- learn about student services and supports; and
- find friends in LA&PS-affiliated clubs and student college councils.
