Charles’ teaching style bridges the gap between textbook theory and professional practice, using interactive real-world case studies to give students hands-on experience. Currently, Charles serves as the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for a Toronto-based single-family office, where he directs a comprehensive multi-asset strategy across public equities, private equity, real estate, venture capital, and private credit. Previously, Charles worked at the holding company for Apotex, where he executed all foreign exchange trading and hedging for the group, led select strategic corporate finance transactions for the pharmaceutical operating businesses, and helped manage diverse pools of capital. Charles combines this institutional experience with a rigorous technical foundation in financial modeling developed during his early career in mergers and acquisitions.

Charles graduated cum laude with a BCom from York University and is a CFA Charterholder. He has been a member of the teaching faculty since 2016, focusing on Equity Valuation and later expanding to teach Investment Ethics. Beyond the classroom and markets, Charles serves as a Director for a charitable foundation and has consulted as a finance expert on legal matters.
