Leigh Lampert
Leigh Lampert serves as General Counsel to a privately-held group of companies headquartered in Toronto. He previously served as in-house legal counsel to Sears Canada for 9 years, where he most recently held the position of Vice President, Strategic Objectives and Associate General Counsel. His in-house legal work experience is very broad including extensive work in both the retail and real estate sectors. He also has experience working as a lawyer in private practice in Toronto.
Leigh also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Ryerson University and an Adjunct Professor of International Business and Human Resources at York University.
Leigh received his LL.B. and M.B.A. from Dalhousie University in Halifax and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa. He has also completed Harvard Business School’s executive education program in Real Estate Management. In addition, he holds a Certificate in Adjudication for Administrative Agencies, Boards & Tribunals from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
Prior to practicing law, Leigh worked as Special Advisor to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada. He has held similar positions with the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, the Minister of National Defence, the Minister of Labour and the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.
Leigh previously served as a Vice Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal and as a Member of the Toronto Licensing Tribunal. He has also served as a Panel Member on the Discipline Committee of the Association of Professional Engineers Ontario.
Leigh volunteers his time on the boards of a not-for-profit summer camp and a private school, and he serves as a member of the Ryerson University Law Practice Program Corporate Counsel Advisory Board.
Leigh is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.
In 2017, Leigh was awarded the “Canada 150 Award” in recognition of his “Service to Country and Community”.
