Welcome to Markham Academic Advising

Markham Academic Advising is central to the integrated service offerings within the Markham Campus Student Success & Advising team.

Our dedicated Academic Advising team is committed to providing you with the information, guidance, and support needed to realize your academic aspirations. Whether through in-person or virtual drop-in appointments or email communication, we are ready to assist you in aligning your career objectives with your program of study, achieving degree requirements, exploring experiential education opportunities, petitioning grades or decisions, or adapting your degree focus.

New Student Advising

As a new student, you must book and attend an enrolment advising appointment prior to gaining access to enrolling into courses. This appointment will help to chart your course and understand your degree requirements.

  1. Log in to MyFile 
  1. Accept your offer (if you have not done so already). 
  1. Follow instructions to "Book/Manage My Enrolment Appointment". 
  1. Email advise.markham@yorku.ca if you have trouble booking an enrolment appointment. 

Note for Transfer Students: Booking an enrolment appointment is necessary for the transfer credit assessment process. 

💳 Pay the Registration Deposit, which confirms your registration at York University and unlocks services you will need to prepare for the start of classes and continue through your courses. 

*Please ensure you have paid the registration fee by the deadline linked to the date you begin enrolling into courses. Non-registration will result in de-enrolment from your courses.

📄 Submit syllabi/detailed course outlines if required for transfer credit assessment (for Transfer Students).

Get in Touch with a Markham Advisor

Our services are open to all students in any Markham program and those referred by their Keele or Glendon Faculty's advising department. Your success is our priority.  

Virtual or in-person drop-in advising with our in-house academic advisors are available for students currently enrolled in Markham programs.

Advising is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Each drop-in session is about 15-30 minutes.

Virtual Drop-Ins

Virtual advising can be accessed with QLESS beginning Spring/Summer 2024.

In-Person Drop-Ins

Markham Campus welcomes students Fall 2024 and in-person advising will then be available at the Student Life Welcome Desk, Room 1010, 1 University Blvd, Markham, ON.

Booking Virtual Advising Appointments will be available Spring/Summer 2024

  1. Join the Virtual Kiosk OR download the app on your smartphone from Google Play or the iTunes App Store. 
  1. Open the app and select "Markham Campus Academic Advising".           
  1. Join the queue that pertains to your program.                    
  1. When it's your turn, an advisor will connect with you in-person, via phone or zoom (please indicate your preferred method of communication prior to joining the line). 

Our Advising Team

Crystal Grant is the Associate Director, Student Success & Advising at York University’s Markham Campus, where she oversees advising, careers and learning skills services. With an MBA in Finance, BA in Business & Society, and over 15 years in higher education, Crystal is dedicated to guiding students in academic and career success. She is currently providing interim academic advising support to Markham students as this team grows.
