Student Success

We Maximise Student Success. How?

Starting at university can be a challenging experience, at York Science, there are a number of ways we help maximize our student's personal, academic, and professional success. We provide assigned academic advisors, workshops, peer support, and mentorship alongside the abundance of academic, wellness, and career support available to all York students.

Assigned Academic Advisors

York Science students are assigned a Science Academic Advisor to support them during their time with us. We want to ensure that our students always have a place to go for advice, direction, or just a supportive smile.

Academic Support & Workshops

We ensure our students have the information they need, when needed, via workshops throughout the year such as the “How to Make the Rules Work for You” series, “Finishing the Term Strong – Preparing for Exams”, and our Academic Culture Workshops.

Peer Support & Mentoring

Through Bethune College, Science students can access peer-support services designed to help them succeed. Through Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS), Peer Tutoring, Peer Mentoring, and Class Representatives, our students are well equipped with the tools for success.

Experiential Education & Career Support

At York Science, we offer workshops and advising with our Experiential Education Coordinator for students interested in pursuing an Internship or Co-op during their studies.

Bethune Writing Centre

At the Bethune Writing Centre, students can seek help with different kinds of academic and professional writing. This includes proofreading, citations and references, and advice and feedback on graded work.

Additional Support & Resources

There are a wide variety of resources and support services available on campus. Learn more about how York students are supported throughout their undergraduate degree from first year to graduation and beyond.

York supports students in and outside of the classroom with various programs. Here at York, we have programs for general advising, student advising, health advising, and career advising. Throughout my years here at the university, I have been able to use these resources to have a better understanding of how to excel inside and outside the university. My future goals include post-graduate studies, by using these resources and having personalized relationships with professors, I am able to excel outside of the university.
