Prof. Weitzner discusses the dangers of AI innovation in product development

SAS Assistant Professor David Weitzner wrote an article that was published in The Conversation, titled, “Push for AI innovation can create dangerous products”, where he discussed that although AI technology can give companies an edge over competitors, at times flawed products enter the market.

“If AI is central to our future, we need to pay careful attention to the assumptions around harms and benefits programmed into these products. As it stands, there is a perverse incentive to design AI that is artificially innocent,” Weitzner says, in the article.
