Job Description:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Student Academic services, and the Senior Academic Adviser of Enrolment the team lead will provide excellent support to peers, new students, potential students, and the wider York Community. In addition to the regular Peer Enrolment duties and responsibilities, this position supports New Student Advising in administrative and logistical support, as well as in providing leadership to other Peer Enrolment Assistants. In this role constant feedback on improving operations and optimizing efficiency of services is vital.
- Project manages team’s portfolios and provides context, feedback and resources to support them.
- Monitors ongoing projects within New Student Advising (i.e YUELI; YU Start.)
- Assists in scheduling shifts on termly basis with Advising Office administers.
- Assists with daily scheduling of duties.
- Assists with the building of the Peer Enrolment Assistant team, i.e. participating in training, team-building and motivation throughout the course of the year
- Assist in training for incoming Peer Enrolment Assistants including preparation of training materials.
- Assist with daily operational duties; and undertakes familiar tasks associated with ensuring the smooth functioning of operations.
- Attends meetings with Coordinator when needed.
- Attends and participates in LA&PS Recruitment and Outreach events

The Peer Enrolment Assistant Team Lead has exceptional organizational ability, and thorough knowledge of York University services and resources. As well as, in-depth knowledge of duties and tasks undertaken within New Student Advising. The incumbent is a natural communicator and able to assign duties fairly and effectively as well as problem solve matters with sensitivity and diligence. They lead by example and understand the needs and priorities of the first-year experience. They should also have:
- One to Two years of recent experience as a Peer Enrolment Assistant in LA&PS.
- Experience and familiarity with York campus (Keele) and services.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Solid team player; and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Efficient with MS Office (excel; power-point; word)
- Eagerness to learn and takes initiative
