Doing Work When The World Is On Fire: Academic Research During Covid-19

There is no doubt that Covid-19 has changed the way we do almost everything, including academic work and in particular research. While we continue to live under various lockdowns and restrictions, how can we carry out research that ensures the safety of the participants and researchers, and, how can we remove at least in part the sense of an endless waiting game?

Very little has been written about the methods, risks, challenges and opportunities  we face during the pandemic, all the more so regarding the work ahead of our graduate students whose degree completion depends on timelines, deadlines and often fieldwork. This seminar brings together some of the key lessons learnt during the pandemic from various scholarly debates on research methodologies and ethics. It delivers them in a format that is user-friendly for our graduate students as emerging scholars.
