Staff member Madeline Salzarulo receives Voice of York Award

Congratulations to Madeline Salzarulo, undergraduate program assistant in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, for receiving the 2019 President’s Voice of York Award. The award recognizes an individual who provides assistance to the community in a manner that exemplifies York’s values.

Her nominator expressed that “many colleagues share my sentiments that Madeline is the rock of our undergraduate program,” and commended her for her knowledge, reliability, attention to detail, patience and empathy towards students and parents, and for being a true Ambassador for York.

In her nomination package, her supporters remarked that she has “commented affectionately about the ‘passion’ she has for providing support to the students and colleagues” and that “she will not stop until she has fully satisfied the need of the student.” One student, who transitioned into the mathematics program from physics, shared that Madeline regularly went above and beyond the call of duty to assist him:

“During this time of transition…her assistance was absolutely essential in guiding me through a difficult, and a rather unknown period of change. She went far beyond her standard job requirements…and helped me find my place in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics … My transition would not have been anywhere near as easy without Madeline.”

A ceremony to celebrate the recipients of the President’s Staff Recognition Awards will be held at a later date.
