Mathematics Background Quiz:
You will find that your mathematics background is a key element to your success at York University, but we understand that there may be many reasons why you may not feel comfortable with your mathematics background as you start your university journey. You and your future classmates are arriving at York from hundreds of different high schools, from all provinces and territories and from dozens of countries around the world, so it is very reasonable that you have diverse mathematical backgrounds.
Our job is to support you as you are right now, which means we need to learn more about you!
Before your academic advising appointment, you will be asked to complete the Math Background Assessment. You will be asked to bring this result to your advising appointment so that the staff can give you the best possible advice regarding your mathematical background preparation!
This diagnostic assessment does not count for any official grades at York University. It is designed as a self-reflection tool to help you identify your mathematical strengths and obstacles in preparation for your first-year mathematics course. We recommend trying the quiz without looking anything up so that you can get the most accurate evaluation of your current mathematical preparation.
Please note:
- You must have created your Passport York account to access the math assessment.
- If you have not created your account yet, please review Step 4.
- This assessment should take approximately 90 minutes to complete and comes in two parts
- Make sure you give yourself enough uninterrupted time to complete it.
- The final score is not a grade.
- It is not worth academic credit at York University and does not affect your offer of admission or your academic standing at the school.
