Empowering Educators: Strategies for Enhancing Mathematical Literacy among Students

Mathematical literacy among our students is an enormous issue that has wide-ranging impacts across programs and faculties.

We would like to invite you to join Professor Andrew Skelton, Mathematics & Statistics, on September 11, 2023, from 2:30-3:30pm via Zoom for a workshop on Empowering Educators: Strategies for Enhancing Mathematical Literacy among Students.

This session will explore: 

1. Survey data on:
   • Students' attitudes towards learning mathematics.
   • Metrics on students' mathematical preparedness broken down by mathematical topic.  
2. Challenges faced when working with students with varied mathematical backgrounds.
3. Best practices to apply when trying to improve numeracy skills. 
4. Supports available to students across campus.
