Objective
- To develop research and/or related activities in the social sciences and humanities—these can include knowledge mobilization and the meaningful involvement of students and emerging scholars, by fostering new partnerships with existing and/or potential partners; or
- To design and test new partnership approaches for research and/or related activities that can result in best practices or models—these can either be adapted by others or have the potential to be scaled up to a regional, national or international level.
The following two categories of partnerships may request support:
- Existing Partnerships: to foster new research and/or research-related partnership activities that are distinct from the partnership’s previous/ongoing partnership activities.
- New partnerships: to foster new research and/or research-related partnership activities that are undertaken by partnerships in their initial stages.
Eligibility
An individual may not submit an application for a Partnership Development Grant and be the named project director in a Partnership Grants—Formal Application in the same calendar year.
All applicants are required by SSHRC to submit Evidence of Formal Partnership. Please contact Andrea Thomas in Innovation York (tandrea@yorku.ca), as soon as possible to request a Memorandum of Understanding.
How to Apply
York University researchers are reminded that all applications for external research funding, including Letters of Intent, must be reviewed and approved by the Office of Research Services before they are submitted to the granting agency. For internal approval, the application must be accompanied by a completed ORS Checklist, which requires the Dean’s signature. Please send the complete application, with the finalized budget and a completed ORS checklist to sciapps@yorku.ca, five days prior to agency deadline.
