Academic Advising

Please check the most-up-to-date York University COVID-19 response information at: coronavirus.info.yorku.ca/

In light of the national effort to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we have amended our current advising practice to accommodate only online advising. Please email sciquest@yorku.ca to contact us. We will respond to you as soon as we are able to do so. If you would like to book an online advising appointment, please contact us at sciappts@yorku.ca.

You can also reach an Academic Advisor for ‘drop-in’ advising via our chat function until 9PM. The chat connection may be found at the bottom of this page, below. PLEASE NOTE that “chat” advising will only be able to answer general questions and not specific course information. Those enquiries should be made of your course instructor or via one of our email addresses above.

If you are feeling distressed, please directly contact our York University’s counselling service at https://counselling.students.yorku.ca/ or call Good2Talk, a free, confidential service designed specifically for higher education students at 1-866-925-5454.

Science Academic Services (SAS) is the undergraduate advising office for all Science students at York. The SAS team understands the post-secondary environment and is dedicated to assisting you along your academic journey. Our team provides a confidential and secure environment for Science students to get assistance. The SAS office is a great place to start, if SAS does not have the answer they will be able to point you in the right direction.

If you are uncertain about a procedure, regulation, or policy, Science Academic Services is the first place you should visit. SAS has advisors available during regular office hours. The Office of Science Academic Services believes in an open door policy and provides advising for all students within the Faculty.

A quick way to ask a question is via the Live Chat link on most pages on this web site. You can also view our Current Students Frequently Asked Questions page. Student Client Services in the Registrar’s Office also has an online tool called Ask a Student Service Expert. You can type in your question and get a response instantly.
