Biodegradable polymers are becoming the materials of choice for a wide range of implantable applications. This talk will highlight important aspects of their structure, properties and behavior in contact with biological systems. Selected applications of these polymers as well as recent approaches to developing safe, smart and effective implantable devices will also be discussed.
