Virtual Reality (VR) is not yet the technology portrayed in the Holodeck of Star Trek, but VR systems have been developed to train astronauts, conduct remote surgery, and to remotely operate devices in orbit. In this talk we examine how modern VR systems are built and the applications to which they are applied. This talk will also review the various VR installations currently in place at York University.
