York University Magazine wins big at annual COPA Awards

The York University Magazine was the big winner at the 14th annual Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPA), handed out in February. The Magazine won seven awards, including the award for best overall publication, celebrating a three-year victory.

“Our digital content and unique design have been recognized across Canada as a best in class,” says Deirdre Kelly, editor of The York University Magazine. “Our win is a win for York University whose excellence in research, scholarship and alumni achievement is showcased in our pages.”

The magazine also took top honours in the categories of Best Digital Edition Publication, Best Feel Good Story, Best Industry Feature, Best Investigative Article, Best Multicultural Story, Best B2B Web Site, and Best Company Feature.

There were seventy-two publishers from across Canada on this year’s list of finalists. York University brought home two gold and five silver awards as well as a Top Ten rating of four of the top scores across a wide variety of categories. Having received a score of 95/100, The York University Magazine has set a record for the university.

By providing an avenue for Canadian content creators to showcase and promote their brands on the global stage, the COPAs have become the largest digital publishing awards program in Canada, with a mandate to reflect Canada’s multi-cultural diversity whenever possible.

The York University Magazine is published four times per year, with three digital issues and a print issue distributed in the fall. Not receiving the magazine in your inbox or mailbox? You can subscribe here.
