Writing By Children and Youth

The course looks at various types of writing by children and youth rather than what is usually (and problematically) understood by "children's literature"--writing by adults for children. Can adults access "authentic" children's writing? Can such writing be considered literature? What can writing by young people tell us about children and youth, and different kinds of expressive texts?
