Caligula, Claudius and Nero: Roman Emperors Between Myth and History

The course examines contemporary and posthumous literary and iconographic representations of Caligula, Claudius and Nero, Roman emperors from AD 37 to 68, and explores the cultural conditions that help to explain why they were represented in such a hostile manner.
