This seminar examines diverse approaches to understanding the challenges, political and economic, that confront "the South" within the global capitalist system, emphasizing issues of "underdevelopment", poverty and resistance, and making comparisons between diverse states, movements and development strategies across regions (Africa, South and East Asia, the Middle East and Latin America).
