Embracing the fact that the change washing over the GTA and Canada as a whole is not temporary, we believe that a strong university that excels at innovative thinking is essential for future success. We plan therefore to step up greatly the pace of our own interdisciplinary activities within a global framework so that we can address the increasingly urgent local, national and international issues that challenge our world. To become the recognized leader in interdisciplinary research and teaching in Canada, this is what we need to accomplish in the coming years:

We believe those students who excel academically and give back to their communities should be rewarded, and that financial need should never be a barrier for qualified students. We are committed to significantly increasing the number of new student awards and scholarships.

You have the power to deepen our academic talent pool of research leaders and innovators. Our interdisciplinary research and teaching faculty are the lifeblood of York University. It is our goal to attract and retain these innovative faculty members from around the globe who will help York redefine the possible.

You have the power to create an infrastructure for tomorrow. Renowned faculty and talented students require outstanding facilities that meet their needs today and anticipate their needs for tomorrow. Our commitment is to create environments where students and faculty can learn, research and ultimately excel.

You have the power to lead innovation in learning and research. Faculty, together with students, are exploring concepts and learning in entirely new ways through hands-on experience, innovative research projects, publications, the Internet, and conferences. We will develop pioneering programs that take students beyond the classroom and change the way they learn.
