Number of Positions Available: 2 (number of positions are subject to budgetary approval)

Type of Position: Paid

Rate of Pay: $18.00 per hour

Employment Term: 1 Position SU 24; F24; W25 1 Position F24; W25

Hours of Work: Summer: Up to 35 hours per week Fall/Winter: Up to 15 hours per week


Job Description:

Experiential Education (EE) is hands-on learning, where students apply the concepts and theories studied in the classroom in the real world.  EE provides students with opportunities to collaborate with community partners, gain relevant work experience and develop professional skills through a range of work-integrated learning activities.

The Experiential Education Program Assistant will work alongside the team providing administrative, program and office support in the EE Office.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Provides excellent customer service in a professional manner to all students and employer partners inquiring about LA&PS Internship/co-op Program.
  • Supports with answering general email inquiries.
  • Provide support with employer events, campus-wide initiatives, and special projects. Assist team with planning and implementing program initiatives.
  • Assist with creating internship/co-op job postings onto the Experience York database.
  • Provide support with facilitating information sessions, assist with administrative tasks, workshops, scheduling, attendance tracking, and other duties as required.
  • Support with creating a variety of documents such as letters, reports, and presentations. Assist with the preparation of promotional material and resources.
  • Assist with planning and implementing program initiatives, activities, presentations, and various events.
  • Assist with collecting and documenting data and feedback on program.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills, ability to explain and share information.
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational skills, multi-task, carry out a variety of competing task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and in a small team environment.
  • Demonstrates reliability, punctuality, pay attention to detail, and eagerness to learn and take initiative.
  • Familiarity with and sensitivity to diversity, equity and fostering inclusivity.
  • Knowledge of LA&PS Internship program, experiential education courses and activities is an asset.
  • Previous administrative support, event planning and facilitation is an asset.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, eClass, Teams, etc.).
