Talk Description:

“Crystalline materials are often highly valued for their beauty,
as is the case for precious gemstones such as diamonds and sapphires.
Moreover, crystals are also valued for their objectively useful properties,
such as their applications in watches, electronics, and even the determination
of chemical structures such as the double-helix of DNA.
Additionally, crystals have found other “uses” throughout history,
such as attempts to predict the weather or to heal bodily ailments.
We will touch on various topics including the occurrence of crystals in nature and laboratories,
their structural beauty, and importance to society.”
