Apply

Deadlines, etc.

Whether you are applying for the OBW Exchange Program, the Summer Research Program or the Summer Language Program, your application must be submitted to the International Office of your home university in Ontario. Please note that each International Office sets their own university-specific application deadlines. You should check your university’s website for those dates.

That office will then decide which applicants it wishes to nominate for participation in the specific program in question. Those nominations will then be forwarded to the OBW Program Office in Toronto, which will determine the final list of participants. The OBW Office cannot accept applications directly from students.

There is no application or placement fee payable to the OBW program, but it is usual for each Ontario university to assess application and/or placement fees for students participating in exchange and study/research-abroad programs.

Start Early!

Each of the three OBW programs has distinct requirements for supporting documentation. Applicants to the Exchange and Summer Research programs should carefully research universities in Baden-Württemberg to identify the best fit for their academic or research interests.

How to Apply

OBW Exchange: Students must apply to their home university to be nominated, following that institution’s selection process and criteria, to the OBW program. Each Ontario university sets its own application deadline, so please check with the exchange/international office of your home university for details.

Students are required to submit to their home university’s international office the following documents:

OBW Summer Research Program: For detailed information on the application process, please refer to the SRP Webpage.

OBW Summer Language Program: Contact the international office of your home university about the internal application process. Write a statement of your reasons for applying to participate in this program (max. 1 page, double-spaced). Please note that you have to meet the application deadline set by your university’s International Office. You must apply through the International Student Exchange Office of your home university. Please do NOT submit your own application directly to either the program or the OBW office.
