George Elliot Clarke

George Elliot Clarke is a poet, author and Professor of English at the University of Toronto. His work focuses on African-Canadian history and experiences, poetry, postcolonial studies, and New World Africans. As a seventh-generation African Canadian and descendant of African-American refugees from the War of 1812, he has helped to bring the experiences and histories of Maritime Black Canadian communities into the mainstream of Canadian scholarship.
