The minimum full time course load is 18 credits – 9 credits per term. 24 credits in total are planned over two terms in this program.
You’ll be studying alongside other York students enjoying campus life and having the first-year experience.
We will provide most of the schedule for you. You will have some choice over your electives, but make sure the timing works with your required courses.
You are expected to maintain above a 60% GPA to pass the courses. Throughout this first year, you can get support to keep on track as you work towards your second year. Please review the progression policy at York.
Students must have an academic IELTS of 5.5 or 6.0 overall (with no score below 5.0) or equivalent. Students must also meet all other undergraduate academic requirements for their chosen program within LA&PS.
No. You are not taking English as a subject but rather you will get to choose any LA&PS academic major (provided you meet the academic qualifications for that program), and then take additional non-credit and credit ESL courses to support your English language learning.
For 2024-2025, tuition is $49,500 for 2 terms.

The program is 2 terms, or 8 months total. You will gain direct admission into an academic program in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Once you’ve completed your first two terms of English support courses, you will continue your program studies according to your LA&PS degree program.
