DARE Project: Measuring the impact of the academic literacy modules on LAL students
Program(s) of Study: Accounting
Project Supervisor: Ibtissem Knouzi

I hope this research helps improve how academic institutions support graduate students in developing essential writing and communication skills.

Project Description:

My DARE research project focused on evaluating the impact of four e-learning modules developed to support graduate students in the Linguistics and Applied Linguistics (LAL) program. These modules were designed to improve academic writing strategies and help students succeed in their studies and future careers. I was involved in analyzing data from student questionnaires and focus group interviews, which gathered feedback on how students interacted with the modules and whether the training supported their academic writing. I also assisted in analyzing module access metrics to identify usage patterns such as visit frequency and types of interactions. Our goal was to assess the modules' effectiveness and ensure they continue to meet the evolving needs of graduate students.

The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) - Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members. Find out more about DARE.
