The prize is given to a student in the second-year "Information and Technology" course for the Communication Studies Program who has achieved top academic standing as recommended by the Course Director and is continuing on into third-year (minimum 54 earned creits) of the program. The Jerry Durlak Prize honours Professor Jerry Durlak, a long-time member of the Communication Studies Program who retired in 2005 and passed away in 2010.
