What are the metrics for success / impact? 

One of the main methods of tracking progress for this program is through having students complete reflections. These reflections will be thoroughly analyzed by the advancement and student engagement teams to determine whether the program is effective and creating an impact.

How will the pairing process for the quartets be done? 

Each mentor and mentee are required to fill out an individual registration form/application form respectively. Can we spend more than 10 hours with students? 

The 8-to-10-hour mark is simply a minimum requirement to complete. Mentors and mentees are free to spend more time together for the purpose of this program, provided both the mentor and the mentee have the time to do so.

How can I structure my interactions with students? 

The mentor can choose to structure meetings in any form that they feel will be most suitable, either in person or online. Mentors have the choice of meeting with each student individually, or conducting meetings as a group (3 mentees, one mentor). 

How will conversations in the mentorship sessions be guided? 

The student engagement team and advancement team have worked together closely in creating an outline that suggests topics and themes for discussion in the meetings. However, mentors and mentees are free to discuss other topics that they feel are important to the mentee's professional development. 

What is the student application process?  

Course Directors typically match students with organizations based on interest, suitability, and availability. However, organizations can still request resumes, cover letters, and conduct interviews before making a final selection.  

What kind of work can students complete during placement?  

Students participating in placements will gain valuable hands-on experience through high-impact learning opportunities at your organization. Course Directors will work closely with you to define the scope of work appropriate for students. Who sends out the placement agreements?  

Placement agreements are sent out by the Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Specialist from the Experiential Education (EE) Office. The agreement should be signed by the signing authority at the partner organization before being returned to the WIL Specialist. What is the placement agreement that needs to be signed before the student starts placement?

The placement agreement outlines key requirements for the placement organization and the University, covering important aspects such as term and termination, indemnification, facilities access, insurance, WSIB/Accident, illness, injury compensation, privacy and confidentiality and more. The placement agreement must be signed before students can begin their placement.
