DARE Project: Introducing e-business approach to Canadian food banks in a post-pandemic era
Program(s) of Study: BCom - Business Technology Management

I hope this research can help food banks identify practical ways to improve accessibility, especially for individuals with mobility or transportation challenges.
Project Description:
My research project explored alternative models for food bank operations to improve accessibility and better serve the community - particularly the challenges highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic exposed the limitations of traditional food bank processes, such as the lack of home delivery or online ordering systems. Throughout the summer, I conducted an in-depth literature review on food insecurity and innovative food bank practices. I led the development of the research paper, which allowed me to gain firsthand experience in academic writing and analysis. To gather public perspectives, I conducted surveys at three different grocery store locations, where I randomly selected participants to provide insights into potential improvements for food bank services. The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) - Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members.
