DARE Project: Enhancing Option Pricing Models using Neural Networks and Machine Learning
Program(s) of Study: Bachelor of Commerce in Information Technology
Project Supervisor: Nabil Tahani
I hope that our research on "Options Pricing Using Neural Networks and Machine Learning" will make significant contributions both to the field of financial engineering and to the broader application of machine learning in complex real-world scenarios.
Project Description:
The project, "Enhancing Option Pricing Models using Neural Networks and Machine Learning", focused on the innovative application of training neural networks to price options. Traditional financial models often struggle with the complex and non-linear dynamics of the markets, which can limit their effectiveness in real-world scenarios. Our project sought to address these limitations by integrating advanced machine learning techniques. My role in this project involved designing and implementing the neural networks. This included tasks like preprocessing data to fit our models, experimenting with various neural network structures (such as feedforward and recurrent networks), and training these models using extensive datasets of historical option prices. The objective was to showcase how integrating neural networks could lead to more accurate and adaptable methods for real-time option pricing in volatile financial markets. The Dean’s Award for Research Excellence (DARE) - Undergraduate enables our students to meaningfully engage in research projects supervised by LA&PS faculty members.
